Welcome to Spring, another opportunity to start afresh. Everything that has been in obscurity, bare and developing is now in full bloom – how wonderful?
Welcome to Spring, another opportunity to start afresh. Everything that has been in obscurity, bare and developing is now in full bloom – how wonderful? Season’s make sense, both in nature and in real life. And nature reflects to us why change or better yet, transformation, is so necessary. I personally love transformation and sometimes I contradict myself because it can be so hard for me to let go, a paramount part of transformation. But, nonetheless. I am here to touch on a few points that phase me, which I imagine phases you yet encourages you.
Let’s start with your (personal) style
The other day a girl friend of mine sent me an interesting article about finding your personal style identity and I thought “wow, after a whole 32 years, I still seem to struggle with pinning down my signature style.” But as I navigated the article further, it turns out that your “signature style” is just one of those boxes society has created for us to comfortably climb into and have we climbed in, all right. Only to find that what’s in the box does not really tick the box. Personal style is one of those phenomenon’s that require you to go on a journey, you don’t just arrive at it. It is the way an individual expresses themselves in preference of what they choose to wear, how to wear it, when to wear it, in respect to or in rebellion of their body or hair type. It’s a beautiful concept and even more beautiful when you decide to show up for yourself authentically, regardless of the trends of the time, what other’s think or say or what you see and feel pressured into. If you’ve been trying to step into a more stylish you, now is the best time to rethink and recreate without reinventing.
Here’s how:
Work with what you have; alter your existing pieces into more modern styles, establish your basic wardrobe and work from there, explore colour outside of the confines of the black and white safe space, change your hair babygirl – dead ends need to go for your own good (ask me, I was a Rapunzel with razer sharp jaggedy raggedy ends that I refused to cut but realized that sis needed to grow up and let go). These are just a few changes that don’t break the bank but boost your self-confidence. Anyway, I am not going to speak any more on this topic, I will leave it for an article that I’ll be writing for said girlfriend’s lifestyle platform, La Vie Lectual (I promise to share it when it’s out), in the meantime, check out La Vie Lectual CLICK HERE
Here are some of my favourite Spring looks to love:

Moving onto something more personal: relationships
I have a question, what is your relationship with yourself like at the moment? Do like who you are in this time of your life? Do you honestly feel like you have been developing yourself lately? I’ll be first to say that I have mixed emotions, I am transitioning, and if you know anything about the in-between phase, it can be SO uncomfortable. But the spiritual me knows that this is necessary for self-growth. If you’re right there with me, tell me, I want to know that I’m not suffering alone hun, lol, but seriously, this is a time to surround oneself with and look to positive people. Accept the invitation, initiate a date with a friend, forgive and feel better, the art of doing does so much for the being. Being active in the background of a transition can transform you in that transition. So much begins to click when you decide to be present in your transitioning phase. No matter at which part. Acknowledge the really difficult days but don’t remain there.
As for other relationships, take note and take notes. How are they making you feel? What are they making you do? Write it down and review. A lot makes sense when we read things in our own hand-writing (damn that makes a lot of sense) and moreover, it makes even more sense when we read it back to ourselves, OUT LOUD.
A conclusion of another kind
If you’ve been in obscurity and don’t know how to “come out” – Perhaps it’s time. Tap into your intuition, that charming compass that sets the record straight if only we’d listen. This time, really listen and let nature reflect to you just how beautiful a flower can be in full bloom, in season, on time.
